Reagents, instruments and laboratory services across the GCC: market size, segments (clinical chemistry, immunoassay, molecular, haematology, point-of-care), reagent-rental economics, lab chains and PPPs, key players and procurement implications.
The GCC in-vitro diagnostics market — instruments, reagents, consumables and the laboratory services built on them — grows with bed capacity, chronic-disease screening and molecular testing. Published estimates for 2025 range from USD 1.3 bn to USD 2.2 bn; our central estimate is USD 1.9 bn, growing at about 4% to USD 2.6 bn by 2032. Saudi Arabia and the UAE lead; reagents are almost entirely imported.
Procurement in this market is dominated by reagent-rental and cost-per-test contracts that bundle instruments, reagents, service and IT. These are convenient and frequently expensive: multi-year lock-in, volume commitments and consumable pricing that is rarely benchmarked. Laboratory PPPs and outsourcing (notably in Saudi clusters) are changing who holds the contract.
The chart shows the Consulting Wallah central estimate: published figures normalised to 2025, median taken, and projected at the median published growth rate. The published range for 2025 is USD 1.3 bn–USD 2.2 bn; differences are mostly scope.

Public labs are consolidating into regional reference labs (Saudi clusters, SEHA/PureHealth’s Abu Dhabi laboratories); private chains (Al Borg, Dr Sulaiman Al Habib labs, Unilabs, Pure Lab, Medcare) expand with insurance; molecular testing capacity built during COVID is being repurposed to infectious disease and oncology panels.
Indian IVD manufacturers (Transasia, Trivitron, Mylab, Meril Diagnostics, Agappe) supply lower-cost analysers and reagents to GCC private labs; Indian lab chains’ cost structure is a benchmark GCC operators should know.

How to read these figures. Published market-size estimates for this market vary widely because publishers define scope differently (software only vs software + services + logistics). Where we show a Consulting Wallah estimate we state the range of published figures it is triangulated from and our scope. Figures marked as reported are quoted from the named source. Nothing here is investment advice.
